Encounter

By Rebecca Clifford

wrapped in fur
titian haired beauty sashays into view
confidence in thigh high black boots
sparkling teeth, eyes glinting
picks her prize – fine nose, not too sweet -
feasts on the leftovers
amid rotting compost
fox takes apple
out for lunch

Rebecca Clifford's written works have been widely published at home and in international anthologies, blogs and e-zines. She lives rurally, near a watershed, gardens with a backhoe, and plants as many sunflowers as the ground will hold.
